Mrs. Kim DiMascio

Welcome to Preschool! My name is Kim DiMascio. I teach the four-year-old, five day a week, half and full day preschool class and the MWF half and full day class. I have been teaching for 27 years. I graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a degree in both early childhood and elementary education. I continued my education by going back to Chestnut Hill College to get my Master’s degree in early childhood education. I taught kindergarten, first grade, sixth grade and preschool. I taught sixth grade for one year at Saint Stanislaus School then I opened and taught preschool for 10 years until we merged and became Mater Dei Catholic. I have been teaching preschool at Mater Dei for 7 years. I live in Saint Stanislaus Parish. I have two children, Jonathan, a senior at Temple University and Christopher, a sophomore at Montgomery County Community College.  I am very excited to be a part of the faculty here at Mater Dei. I am looking forward to a great year!!!!!

Welcome to Mater Dei Catholic Preschool Program! The purpose of our program is to provide a positive early educational experience for your child. The program offers each child activities which address his/her total needs: physical, emotional intellectual, and spiritual. Our commitment is to bring Jesus to the hearts of the children entrusted to our care. We will strive to provide a loving and safe environment that encourages socialization, creativity,
experimentation and 21st century learning. A "hands on" approach to learning is stressed.

Each year, PK and K perform a Christmas Show at St Maria Goretti Church in Hatfield.  This year it will be held on Sunday, 12/16 at 4pm for all families and friends.  The children learn songs that tell the story of Jesus's birthday, as well as some Christmas carols to close out the show.  This is one of my favorites!  It is such a sweet way to share the joy of Christmas with our families.  I will be sending home detailed information shortly, but just wanted to make sure everyone has it on their calendars!

In case of a 2 hour delay, the preschool doors will open at 10:10am.  All half day children are invited to join us, however dismissal is still 12:15. CARES will open at 8:00am. There on no snack on 2hr. delay days.

Weekly News

Dear Parents:

This week we begin talking about the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus's Birthday. We will retell the story of Jesus's birth and how important it is to not only get our houses but also our hearts ready for Christmas. We do have a Literacy theme this week, It is called Season's Change. We will learn about the different types of weather we see in each season and the different activities we can do in each season. We will meet Ms. W.  Ms. W loves words especially weather words.

The boys and girls are very excited about our shepard. They named him Dusty. Dusty was in a different place each day last week for the children to find. He reminds us how important it it to get our hearts ready for Jesus by being kind to one another and following the classroom rules.

On Tuesday, December 11, The full day children will be going over to church at 2:00pm to see the Christmas Pageant performed by our eighth grade students. It a great way to understand the true meaning of Christmas.

Don't forget Wednesday is Pajama Day. Children come to school in their pajamas and sneakers. They may bring a stuffed animal with them to watch the movie with. No need to pack a snack, the children will have cookies and hot chocholate!!!

Have a wonderful week.

You can help your child by reviewing the letters S, P, T,O, X and Y.  Please remember to start all letters at the top.  We have been working on printing first names in all capital letters. The children have been doing a wonderful job but they could always use the practice.   Thank you for the gift of your child and have a great week!!!

The weather is getting colder, please dress your child appropriately. We will be going on the playground weather permitting.  Please remember children must wear sneakers to play safely on the equipment.
