This week we will be learning about God's Gift of Animals. We will learn that animals are very important in our everyday lives. We will learn about zoo animals, and pets. We will learn that God wants us to care for his animals. We will also meet Mr. Z with his zipping zippers. We will learn the correct way to print letter Z and we will make a list of words beginning with the letter Z. This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the season of Lent. We will not be going to church with the rest of the school. After mass one of the Deacons will come to the classroom to give the children ashes. I will prepare them a head of time so they understand what is happening. I will not make any child receive ashes if they are not comfortable. During the season of Lent we will focus on getting our hearts ready to celebrate Easter by being kind and helping one another.  I will introduce the class bean jar we will use throughout the season of Lent. Every morning each child will have the opportunity to tell the class a good deed they have done. For every good deed we will place a bean in the jar. When our bean jar is full, the children will receive a special surprise. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
